Cheers!

Brendan J. Moylan was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from St. Mary's College in Moraga. For some years Brendan has been interested in the production and sales of quality beer. This interest was inspired by his employment at the Jug Shop Liquors from 1978-1983, where he was the beer manager for one of the largest beer selections in San Francisco. His appreciation for quality in beer led to his five year employment as sales manager with Wolfgang Morandell Imports, one of the largest specialty beer importers and distributors in the United States. As sales manager, Brendan had the opportunity to work closely with pubs and restaurants in quality beer selection and marketability. Furthering his knowledge of high quality Bavarian Specialty Beers, Brendan worked with Spaten West Inc. in 1988 as their Draft Technician and Merchandising Director.

Brendan has been a home brewer and a member of San Francisco's homebrew club, the San Andreas Malts, for six years. His enthusiasm for the club's events and the art of brewing beer led to his serving as the President of the club in 1986.
Brendan’s experiences have translated into an in-depth knowledge of the brewing business. Brendan has not only gained first hand experience in the retail and sales business but he has extensively studied brewing science and technology. His commitment led him to U.C. Davis where he took classes that include "Microbiology and Sanitation for the Practical Brewer", "Microbreweries in the United States" and "Intensive Brewing Science". He has communicated extensively with industry professionals; including brewmasters, brewing professors, and brewing organizations. Trade journals and market publications have also been used to further his awareness of market trends and the state of the industry at large.

Brendan has been living in Marin for over 15 years. He has two children, Sean (19 years) and Chelsea (17 years). You may spot Chelsea working the hostess stand at the affiliated Moylan’s Brewery & Restaurant in Novato.
Moylan's Brewery and Restaurant is located 15 miles north of Marin Brewing Co. on Hwy 101 and Rowland Blvd. Brendan's Brewpub's are not to be missed on any northern California Brewpub Tour.
